Catch-Up

Hi friends!

I have a lot to catch up on...not ketchup, that stuff humans ruin french fries with, but catch up. As in a lot of stuff has happened this week I need to tell you about.

The first thing is I am now a skilled huntsman! There was a birdie in my yard and of course I have to protect my people from any intruders, so I caught it. And killed it. And brought it to show my people because I thought they'd like it more than the bunny I found last year. No such luck. Since they didn't want it, I tried to eat it and they were even more unimpressed. Then I got a mouth bath and that was NO fun.

Second is my people have been home for a ninety thousand days in a row! Today is a very important day called Memorial Day. It's not one of those dumb human holidays, like St. Patrick's Day. Memorial Day is a day to remember soldiers who died to protect our freedoms. I'm very glad I live in a free country where I can eat treats any time Grandma gives them to me. And don't forget that puppy dogs play an important role in the military, too. Since today is a holiday, my people both get the day off! We've been doing lots of snuggling and napping and eating!

Finally, I'm famous! A while back, I was contacted by Mr. Sam at Healthy Paws to contribute to a post about house training. Luckily, he asked before I went to Great Grandma's house and pottied on her couch. Anyway, here's a link to the post.

And since I can't post without a picture, here's a most recent one of me napping under the new coffee table. Mom's impressed I can fit my whole upper half under it!

More Grandpaw-rents and Emmas

This was the best weekend ever! This weekend, my Grandma and Grandpaw came to visit! The ones that live in Tennessee, not the ones we visited last weekend. They brought their puppy dog, Emma, with them. We've met once before and she got in trouble. This time she was pretty good. She did get jealous when she thought she was sharing her mommy. But I was really good when she made me share MY mommy and Mommy and Daddy were very proud. She's not quite as bad as The Thing, but she's still much blurrier than me.

Emma crashed our bedroom Saturday.

Then she just hopped right up in bed! She really is part kangaroo. I'm bigger than her and can't make that jump!

My people didn't want me to feel bad, so they brought me up in bed once Emma hopped off to follow a breeze or something.

Everyone went home on Saturday and I got couch snuggle time with my people.

Today was really great though. I went adventuring with my daddy! He went to get breakfast while Mommy stayed to get ready for some church place. I knew he was going to the car and followed him, so he decided to just take me even though Mommy wasn't going. I let him rub my head and scratch my ears and sat nicely in the seat. Then he rolled down the windows and let me smell the sniffs. He's great (sometimes)!  This afternoon, I supervised Mom as she worked in the yard and afterwards we all had family nap time!

That's why this was the best weekend ever!

Mommies, Things, and Babe

This weekend was the best weekend ever! This weekend was Mothers Day. Mothers Day is a special day to cover your mommy in kisses and tell her how much you love that she rubs your belly and gives you treats, even if she does make you share the bed with That Daddy Guy.

We went to Grandma's house to celebrate Mothers Day. The Thing was there. He's actually getting to be a good boy and wasn't as terrible as he usually is. He was still a blur, but he stayed out of my face and didn't try to make me play ALL. THE. TIME.

Me and my mommy

He was kinda stupid though. He thought the kitty cat on the litter can was real and started growling and barking at it.

I tried to show him there was nothing to be afraid of, but he wouldn't listen. Weird dog.

On actual Mothers Day, we went to Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house. I love going there. Mawmaw always sneaks me food.
Here's me, Mom, Dad, Mawmaw, Pawpaw, Uncle Ryan, and The Thing.

I wasn't the one who peed on the couch. I promise. I told Mom I was wandery. It's not my fault she didn't listen.

The other thing I like about Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house is that they have a GINORMOUS yard. I love running around in it.

Uncle Ryan and The Thing with Mawmaw and Pawpaw's puppy, Babe.

The Thing got tired after Babe tried to play with him. See, he doesn't like it either!

After such a fun weekend, I fell asleep on Mommy's legs.

And that's why this was the best weekend ever!

Baseball

Hi friends!

Yesterday was the greatest day ever! Yesterday after my w-a-l-k, my people left my harness and collar on, just detaching the leash. Weird. Then they asked if I wanted to go on a car ride. "Um, duh!" But we didn't go to a drive-thru like usual. My people reattached my leash and we were off. We drove for a hundred billionty miles and waited in a line for a zillionty hours. Kind of like the drive-thru, but we didn't drive to a window. Someone took all our money and showed us where to park. As we were waiting, I saw a ton of other puppy dogs all over. We parked and I bolted as fast as I could from the car. We walked past all kinds of puppy dogs and stood in ANOTHER line for a millionty seven hours. Finally, the people said we were ready to go in.

"Go in where?" you might ask. Well, yesterday was Bark in the Park. A local pet store (not the Barkery, but another good one) sponsored the event at our local minor league baseball stadium. The people got to watch baseball and I got to beg for popcorn from the people in front of us.

It. Was. Awesome! Dad didn't have much fun because he was in charge of going for dinner and the lines were super long and they ran out of everything good.

The was when we first arrived. We thought we could only sit on the lawn, but they opened 2 sections of box seats for puppy dogs and their people, which made my people happy.

People with lawn seats.

Mom brought a blanket for the lawn, so I just lounged on it.

This family had a little chocolate lab puppy. She was very quiet. I was mostly interested in the crinkle bag. Then the dad started feeding me popcorn. He was my bestest friend.

This puppy dog barked almost the whole time.

Hanging with my dad. I kinda like this baseball thing.

Waiting on Dad with Mommy.

This puppy dog wore himself out. His name is "Stoops," after UK's new football coach. Coach better be good!

Two ginormous German Shepherds sat in our row. I didn't really pay attention to them and they just laid down. Towards the end of the game, we sat butt to butt.

Also towards the end, the humans started barking along to some song I'd never heard. After the humans had their turn, the speakers played another song and the German Shepherds started barking along! The got other puppy dogs in our section going and everyone watched them and laughed. I just sniffed around.

My whole family

After that grand adventure, I was worn out. I didn't even really want to get out of jail my crate this morning. But it was still the best day ever!

Derby

Hi friends,

Today is a very special day. Today is the Kentucky Derby! The Derby is an OK holiday, only celebrated in Kentucky (where I'm from) and it's a very big deal. Horsies run around and the first one to put their nose on a wire (except it's not a REAL wire. It's confusing) wins a lot of money and a blanket of roses. I love horsies, so this is a  good holiday. The only problem is the humans don't really celebrate with food. They wear giant, bigger-than-Mister hats and drink something called a "mint julep." I don't know what it is, but Mommy says I'm not allowed to have it. There's also Derby pie, but Mom says I can't have that EITHER.

This is me with my family a few years ago. Great Grandma had never been to Kentucky, so we showed her Keeneland, a race track like the one for the Derby only Mom says it's more specialer.

The people also like to bet on which horsie will put their nose on a wire first. Mom says Mylute will win because he's gray. She also usually roots for the horse wearing #8 because the blankie is pink and that's her favorite color.  This year, the #8 horsie is Goldencent, but Mommy won't actually bet on it because the coach of Daddy's rival school will get lots of money if he wins. In case you can't tell, betting is very scientific (NOT!). So Mom will probably root for Mylute because his jockey is a girl and she'd be the first girl jockey ever to win. And the Kentucky Derby is older than my mom! By the way, a jockey is a person that sits on top of the horsie and steers him and tells him to run fast!

This is the only reason I like the Derby: horsies!
