Zombies!

Hi friends!

This was the best weekend ever! Well, except for the part where one night my people left me home all by myself to eat and chase zombies. I didn't like that part. But I DID love hanging out on the couch all day Saturday while Mom did work for her school and Dad napped and watched football. Those days should be every day.

Anyway, my town really likes Halloween. There's all kinds of activities happening. I'm not sure why they like it so much, since Halloween is the worst holiday ever, but they do. Humans just can't be explained. Sunday night was my town's annual Thriller parade. For 11 years (that's more than me!) a local dance studio has taught people the dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller and they re-enact the music video downtown as zombies. It's tons of fun. So many people this year signed up, they actually had 3 stations for the parade and we were right by one!

Whew! That was close! Mom said she'll have to teach me to walk like a zombie next year and maybe I can be in the parade. No thanks Mom. I'll admire the zombies from a distance. And for any fur-ends that might be scared--they're not REAL zombies. Just humans dressed up as them. 

My mom and dad both went to a school called Transylvania. You know with a name like that, they have to have lots of Halloween fun! Mom could tell stories, but this is MY blog, Mom.  One of the newer traditions is "Pumpkin Mania" where students, teachers, and staff all carve pumpkins and they light them on the steps of the famous building on campus.

And that's why this was the best weekend ever!

Halloween

Whew! My second least favorite holiday is over. Mom wasn't too sure how I'd do with Halloween this year, since there's a lot more families in the neighborhood than last year. I barked and ran to the door, but never ran out the door, so she counts it successful.

The real reason I don't like Halloween is the stupid costumes. Last year, Mom dressed me up like BatDog

As You can tell, the legs were a little long. Since I couldn't walk, Mom just let me wear the cape part and I didn't mind that.

She made me be a football this year.

Mom said this was her Heisman pose. I don't know what a Heisman is, but I don't think I like it.

Anyway, I did have fun seeing the human puppies in their costumes.

Just don't punt, pass, kick, or fumble me.

Pumpkins and Zombies

If you follow me on Twitter, you know I had a very exciting night. Mom and Dad decided at the last minute to go downtown and see a bunch of carved pumpkins like ours and watch a parade.

Mom and Dad went to a college called "Transylvania." Since it was founded, the name has also become famous because it's where Dracula lives. So Transy loves Halloween. The latest festivity added is called "Pumpkin Mania." 250 students, faculty, and friends carved pumpkins and they put them on the steps of the administration building. It's also the building that has a real life tomb.

After we looked at all the pumpkins (and I sniffed a few other doggies there), we went further downtown to the Thriller parade. This isn't any old parade. The people are all dressed as zombies (whatever those are) and they dance to Michael Jackson's (whoever he is) song "Thriller." Only one isn't a zombie and he's dressed like Michael.

I got a little nervous because there was a big crowd for the parade. But Mom and Dad bent down and gave me lots of pets and everyone else standing with us gave me a little room to wander. I also sniffed a dog dressed as a skeleton a lot! It made me excited to put on my costume tonight!

Pumpkins

We did something very exciting tonight. Tonight my mommy carved a pumpkin!

Mom and Dad bought a pumpkin last year, but never got around to carving it. In fact, Mom says they've bought pumpkins since before me and this was the first year they've ever carved it!

I wasn't quite sure what to do, so I hung out with my dad. Someone had to supervise the roasting of the seeds.

Mom wanted to get a picture of me with the pumpkin. The tiles isn't even in the kitchen, so the chair as all wobbly and I did. not. like. it.

Mom said Monday will be a big test for me because the doorbell is going to ring a lot. Kids will say "Trick or Treat!" and she'll give them candy. I don't understand that. They should have to sit or stay or shake before they get a treat like I do!
