Hugs and Kisses Pawty

Hi friends!

Today is a special day, and not just 'cause it's a football day which means my people will be on the couch all day. Today is special because it's the 2nd annual Benny's Hugs and Kisses Pawty. Benny was a special bloggy friend who passed away last year from the stupid C. He made a bucket list to check off and wanted to celebrate the love of our people and us dogs other people. So he made a Hugs and Kisses Pawty! I played last year, too so here are some updated pictures of my people loving on me!

Head scratches are the best!

Vacation!

Hi friends!

Last week...well, actually more like two weeks ago, Mom asked me if I'd like to go adventuring with her and go on a really long car ride just the two of us. I heard "car ride" and said, "Oh yes, Mommy! I'd love to go!" After hours and hours of driving, we arrived at the Land of a hundred billionty 79 trees. The humans call this place "Canada" and not only are there that many trees, but they have tons of squirrels and chipmunks and birds, so I was very busy with Emma on patrol. Oh yeah, Grandma and Grandpaw were there with Emma. Grandma snuck me pieces of her cookies, but SH! Don't tell Mom!  Instead of telling you about all my adventures, I'll just show them to you:

Life is a highway! And that makes me sleepy

Relaxing

Squirrel duty

Emma made me play Follow the Leader a lot. I let her pretend she was leader.

Fresh air

A bald eagle even came to visit!

Some friends of ours are building a new house on their property!

Walking on the beach

*&#@! squirrels!

On duty. We only got into one fight. Mom thinks Emma didn't like me patrolling her area, but since I went into her crate several times looking for hidden chew sticks and she didn't do anything, so Mom, Grandma, and Grandpaw count that as a win.

A dog's work is never done!

Setting sun

This is what happens when we went off-duty for a walk. Squirrels tried very hard to get into the peanut container!

Grandma gave me chew sticks

And I helped Grandpaw with projects

Do you need help Grandma? Or perhaps that is food you'd like to share?

ICE CREAM!!!

You gonna eat all that, Grandpaw?

Mom testing me and Emma. She finally gave us a little bit.

Who needs a fancy GPS when you have me as navigator?

Smells! And guess what? Mom let me go off leash for this one! I played a great game of run ahead back to the cabin even though Mom told me to sit and stay. She didn't think my game was great.

On the way home, we stopped in Mackinaw City to explore a park. It was pretty great because there were goose poop smells. This is me and the bridge. Mom really hates driving over it, but thinks it's very pretty on solid ground.

Vacations are fun, but as you can tell, I was exhausted when we came home! But that's why it was the best vacation ever!

SMILE for Sugar

Hi friends!

Today is a very special day. Today is my blog-pal, Sugar's, Bark-Day! Mom always says you shouldn't tell how old a lady is, so you'll have to check out Sugar's blog for the answer. She requests the same thing every year--a picture with your best smile! Well, that's easy since I just got back from vacation and that made me smile lots!

I'll be back later for a full recap of vacation (hint: It was awesome). Happy Bark-Day Sugar!

Parades

Hi friends!

This was the best weekend ever, even though I got in a little bit of trouble with my mom. I'll get to that part.

Saturday morning, my people and I woke up and ate breakfast like normal. After W-A-L-K-ing, we relaxed a bit and the overnight bag came out. That means just one thing--Grandma's house! Sure enough, we loaded up and rode to see Grandma for her birthday. Pretty sure seeing me was her present. We hung out a little bit and my crate came inside. That wasn't good news for me. After tricking me inside, the humans left me all alone while they went out to eat. The nerve! The worst part was they were gone for forever. The first place they went had a 45 minute wait and the other place had really bad service. I don't know what that means because I was home all by my poor lonesome.

When they finally got home, Mom and Dad said I had a special treat--We were going to Mawmaw's house. Usually that doesn't happen until the next morning, but Grandma and Grandpaw are having their bathroom remodeled and it wasn't in working condition yet.  I had a hard time getting settled once we were there and when Mom got up Sunday morning, Mawmaw said I had a, um, solid accident on a throw rug. Since it was Mawmaw's house, Mom said I couldn't get in trouble, but she was very disappointed in me. Whatever. This is why I love Mawmaw!

Even though I pooped in her house, Mawmaw still let me help cook breakfast!

It's hard not feeling well.

Sunday was the annual parade that goes right front of Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house. Unfortunately, The Thing came for lunch and stayed for the parade, but at least I didn't have to share my Grandma with him.  The parade was great, as always. Whoever wants to be in it just shows up and you can ride whatever.

The Thing made a new friend. She was cute, but another one gave me food. I liked him.

I also liked hanging on the porch with Uncle Hank, Pawpaw, and Ms. Jeanette

Lots of people drive 4-wheelers, lawn mowers, and Mules.

Uncle Rick and Aunt Reva on their Mule

Some drive their old cars, or their fancy cars...or their old fancy cars.

Old cars

The Thing liked the old cars.

There's usually a few trailers decorated and all the area fire departments send trucks.

Sometimes there's pretend pig on a trailer

The Thing and I watching

Sometimes there's a DirecTV van that rides.

My favorite though is the horse section!

Horses!

The parade circles back, so I just waited for the horses to come back.

This time I barked at them!

After the parade, we came home and went to bed early.  Mom got a surprise when we got up today. I wasn't really hungry for breakfast and as we left for our W-A-L-K, she discovered I had another, um, solid accident. Since I only nibbled breakfast for two days and went inside two different nights, she thought a V-E-T trip was in order. Boo!

She got an appointment this afternoon. Side note, there's a new doctor at my V-E-T office and I like her a lot. Probably because I like the ladies and she is one. All the other doctors are boys. They're OK, but Mom's always kinda thought I'd be happier with a girl. Mom was also very proud of me. I let the V-E-T examine me and even let her stick the thermometer in the Out hole. I didn't whine, so she could actually hear my heart and breathing. I probably just have some kind of inflammation in my belly since I did groan when she pushed around there, so I got shot with something and I have to take some medicine for a few days. My tummy was very gurgly this afternoon, but Mom let me munch on the grass in my yard and everything seems to have calmed down. Paws crossed for a clean night tonight!

Gotcha Day!

Hi Friends!

Wednesday was the very most specialist of days. It was my Gotcha Day. Mom knew it was coming up because of the World Cup that's been on TV and makes my dad get really loud. It's a long story, but my people met their neighbors because of our fence and them watching the games.

Anyway, it was a great day! I got a long walk that evening, a special diner, and even more special dessert!

I was so excited for my special somethings, even if waiting drove me a little crazy.

My special dinner: Tots and steak!

Yum yum yum!

Wait...

Free!

Dessert. My dad picked it out all by himself!

Yum again!

Mom also took video, but she hasn't put it on her computer yet.

I'm so glad my people came to find me. I had a foster mom and she was nice, but nothing beats a Fur-ever home. My home before Foster Mom wasn't so nice and it took me a while to come around to my dad, but I like him a lot now. Except when he gets too close to my mommy or when he tries to move my Gotcha Day treat.  So friends, if you want eternal love that only a puppy dog can give, remember to adopt, not shop.

Because you could give another wonderful puppy dog the best life ever!
