Leap Day

Today is a very important day. Today is Leap Day! I'm not totally sure sure what Leap Day is, but I do all kinds of leaps and spins and barks when my people say the W-word. Or the Car Ride word. Or the dinner word. Or the breakfast word. Or the...well, you get the idea.

Apparently Leap day only happens once every 28 years (that's dog years, of course). Hopefully everyone's people gave them a special treat to make them leap!

On another note, my worst fear happened today. There was a huge thunder boomie storm come through last night and today. It was terrible since Daddy is still in St. Louis and Mommy had to work a long day today. Mommy did give me an extra special treat though and I liked that a lot. Plus, she got off early today! Yippee! Happy Leap Day to me!

Human Mysteries and Airplanes

Hi friends! I hope everyone is enjoying their Lenten time. So far, I'm rocking my idea of giving up baths! I don't know why everyone thinks giving something up is hard.

Anyway, we had a great weekend around here. Lots of napping and laying around and my people tell me how adorable I am. We even took a surprise trip last night to Fro-Jos. I had to wait in the car (boo), but I do love a car ride!

Today I helped Mom out in the yard. And by helped, I mean I laid in the sun, sniffed stuff and then peed on it, and looked at Mom while she pulled stuff out of the flower bed. Hey, how come when I mess around in the flower bed I get yelled at, but when Mom does it, it's called "weeding"? Just one of the many mysteries of humans, I guess.

Oh well. I hope everyone has a great Monday. We're waking up early tomorrow to take Daddy to the airplane launch pad. He has to go to St. Louis for boring work stuff, so Mom and I are going to stay here. We're going to have lots of fun, like car rides for dinner and letting me sleep in the big bed (you hear that, Mom? I'm sleeping in Dad's spot!). I'd miss Daddy if there's a thunderstorm. I better go check the weather!

Fat Tuesday

Today is a great holiday. Even the name is great: Fat Tuesday! Today is the last day of celebrations (I hear New Orleans has a really big party) before we enter the season of Lent. I don't know too much about Lent, but my mommy says it's a time of self-reflection about Christ's sacrifice. Some people give up things during Lent. I think I'll give up baths.
Anyway, since Lent is about sacrifice, people like to have one last hurrah and that happens today. Count me in! Some people like to have pancake suppers. I love pancakes!

This is an old picture from when my friend, Luna, and her people came to visit. Dad made pancakes. And a few extras for us!

My people got McDonald's for dinner though and I had my same old kibble. Dad did sneak me a few fries though, so maybe there's hope for my Fat Tuesday!

Let the good times roll!

Blog Share

Hi friends! I hope everyone is staying warm. It snowed over the weekend and was very cold. I love munching on snow, but I know to stay away from the yellow stuff ;)

We had a pretty low-key weekend around here. Mommy and Daddy went on their Valentine's Day date, but I wasn't allowed. Mommy says I'm still her Valentine though and on the actual day I might even get something special. You better not be lying, Mommy. Other than the date, we spent lots of time just laying around on the couch. I love weekends like that.

I do want to share a blog post with everyone. My pal, Bandit, has such great insight on holidays and his latest one (found HERE) shows you to watch your back on Valentine's Day and that the lovey-dovey junk is really just a rouse. His brother, Scout, recently went over the Rainbow Bridge, so give him a few licks while you're visiting.

P.S. I'm only 2 followers away from 100 on Twitter! If you tweet, follow me: @mrappgate

Weekend Recap

Oh my goodness! Has it really been this long? I'm picking up my mommy's bad blogging habits!

This has been the best worst most interesting weekend ever! Things started off not so great. Mommy and Daddy went on one of those date things Friday. They grabbed a quick dinner and saw a movie. I guess it wasn't so bad because they took me on a W-A-L-K first and the movie wasn't crazy long.

Saturday was a mixed bag. I was happy because Grandma and Grandpaw came to visit! That's Daddy's mom and dad. Of course, Grandma fed me lots of treats. I even let Grandpaw pet on me. And I rode with him and Daddy to pick up lunch. Mom was so proud. But, that Uncle Ryan guy came. I'm mostly ambivalent towards him. What made that visit bad was that he brought "Thing" with him. The people call Thing "Walter." Apparently he's Ryan's new puppy. I wasn't a big fan. He tried to make me play games with him and I told him those were baby games. Mom and Dad say I need to learn to play games like Thing and I can teach him how to be lazy and we could be friends. No thanks. I found a safe spot though, to escape. The people were good about not letting Thing into the safe place and Daddy gave me extra protection. I can't wait to tell Thing he's adopted!

Uncle Ryan and Thing (a.k.a. "Walter")

"Grandma, why are you holding that thing? You should be giving me treats!"

Yay! Treat time!

Puppies wear me out. I prefer the ones on Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl. They don't steal Grandma or make me play baby games.

Sunday was great...well, kind of. Mom had that carpet monster out. I hate that thing. Almost as much as thunder! But that evening, a bunch of people came to feed me! They watched football and I even let some of them pet me. Mom was very proud about how quickly I'm starting to warm up to people, even the boy strangers.
