Gotcha Day!

Hi Friends!

Wednesday was the very most specialist of days. It was my Gotcha Day. Mom knew it was coming up because of the World Cup that's been on TV and makes my dad get really loud. It's a long story, but my people met their neighbors because of our fence and them watching the games.

Anyway, it was a great day! I got a long walk that evening, a special diner, and even more special dessert!

I was so excited for my special somethings, even if waiting drove me a little crazy.

My special dinner: Tots and steak!

Yum yum yum!

Wait...

Free!

Dessert. My dad picked it out all by himself!

Yum again!

Mom also took video, but she hasn't put it on her computer yet.

I'm so glad my people came to find me. I had a foster mom and she was nice, but nothing beats a Fur-ever home. My home before Foster Mom wasn't so nice and it took me a while to come around to my dad, but I like him a lot now. Except when he gets too close to my mommy or when he tries to move my Gotcha Day treat.  So friends, if you want eternal love that only a puppy dog can give, remember to adopt, not shop.

Because you could give another wonderful puppy dog the best life ever!

Vacations

Hi friends!

This has been the BEST WEEK EVER!!! This weekend, I went of vacation with my people! My grandpaw's dad bought a cabin in Canada forever ago, so Grandpaw went up as a little boy and my mom's been going since she was born. Now, my whole family goes! We had great adventures, but I will let pictures tell the stories.

The trip is about 12 hours from my house, so we stopped for lunch and I got to potty and drink water. We stopped for the night in Michigan, in the upper lower peninsula, then only had a few more hours the next day.

I slept most of the way.

Mom tried to take a panorama picture with her Iphone-pod-pad. It's a little distorted, but you get an idea of the view! That's Batchawana Bay (off Lake Superior) in the background.

When we got there, I had a great surprise! Grandpaw and Great-Uncle A completely fenced in the deck. Usually I have to be tied up (which is a problem since I like to wander around and under and get tangled) or penned (again, I'd rather wander). I had to show squirrels, chipmunks, and Emma that it was MY fence!

Lots of squirrels and chipmunks live in Canada, so Emma and I had to patrol. She's a quick learner.

We even got along most of the time and laid down in close proximity to each other. We went back and forth between sun and shade.

I also liked my Gotcha Day present--a cool bed. It has a foam liner and Mommy pours water in it, which soaks into the foam and keeps puppy dogs cool.

Follow me, Emma!

I also liked Mom's deck bed--pillows sewn together.

They call me Old Man Puppy Face. I don't get it.

On our last full day, friends of my Grandpawrents came to stay for a few days. To celebrate, we went to get ice cream. I wasn't allowed inside, so Mommy waited with me. They had a huge yard with a teepee skeleton in the middle, so Mom took my picture.

They also had a totem pole, but I was too excited for ice cream! Daddy did actually give me a few licks. Yummy!

When we got home, everyone ate dinner and then some friends came from down the beach to visit. We had a deck full with 8 humans and two puppy dogs!

The coolest part was the present Grandma and Grandpaw gave me. They just got back from a cruise to Alaska and one of the things they did was visit Happy Trails Kennels, home of Martin Buser, 4-time Iditarod musher winner! They got to meet puppies in training, learn more about the race (including the fact that Martin wins lots of Humanitarian Awards because of the condition of his sled dogs when they reach check-points and are inspected by independent V-E-Ts), and even see a training race! They got me an authentic bootie worn by one of Martin's dogs in the Iditarod (Rachel).

Rachel's info card

Me modeling the bootie. Mom says I probably don't have a future as a sled dog based on my less than excited reaction!

We had a great vacation, but I'm glad to be home with my people. I missed my couch and I don't eat well when I'm not at home. But the smells in Canada are amazing! We even saw what we think was a moose track in the sand one day (way too big to be a deer). And I now own all of Canada...well at least Batchawana Bay!

Gotcha Day #3

Hi friends!

Today is the best day ever! Today is my most specialest of all days and the second best holiday in the whole world. Today is my Gotcha Day. A Gotcha Day is kind of like a birthday or adoption day. It's the day I came to live forever with my people. They took me home with them three years ago. They've been pretty great parents so far, except for all the abuses I suffer like not getting all the French fries or when Mommy leaves me or not letting me sleep every night in the big bed.

I wasn't too sure about That Daddy Guy at first, but this week especially, I've been greeting him with a wagging tail and asking for ear scratches. He's been happy to oblige. I guess I'll keep him.

Anyway, to celebrate my specialest of all days, I got an extra long evening W-A-L-K. I also got a very special treat from The Bluegrass Barkery. I didn't even know Mommy bought it! She sure can be sneaky!

Darn right I'm a stud! But at least this one's not pink like last year's treat.

Torture I say! Mommy had to hold it because she knew I'd never wait long enough for her to snap the picture!

Yum!

Can I have a Gotcha Day every day?

Supposedly I have a present coming, too, so I guess that means it's from Santa Paws. Since it's summer, he must be a little behind because it isn't here yet. Mommy assures me I've been a god puppy dog though and will be here soon.
Now I'm all snuggled up on Mom because some yahoo decided it'd be fun to shoot those terrible firework boomies and I don't like it! Still the best Gotcha Day ever!

Gotcha!!!

Yesterday was my most specialist of all days! It was my Gotcha Day! For those who may not know, a Gotcha Day is kind of like a birthday, except no one knows when my birthday is. So we celebrate a Gotcha Day as the day my parents "got" me. Sometimes people might call it an Adoption Day, but I like Gotcha a whole lot better.

The day started off OK, better than the day before. I had to go to the V-E-T the day before. They gave me stuff to make me super sleepy and when I woke up my teeth were all pretty. I had lots of fun watching all the people, puppy dogs, and kitty cats back in my spot while I waited for Mommy. They finally brought me to see Mom. The V-E-T guy told her I was "spunky" when I woke up...I guess that's good.

Anyway, that was Friday and it rained ALL day that day. Mom said she had a few wet adventures without me. I'm not sure what would be worse, the V-E-T or water. Since it rained so much Friday, my parents couldn't take me to the puppy dog park like they wanted. I still got an extra long walk, though.

Then I did a lot of this:

After dinner, my people gave me a special treat: A long-lasting chew treat! They had been hiding it forever and decided today was a good day to give it to me.

I chewed and chewed and chewed until it was ALL gone. It was tasty.

Just for fun, here's a picture of me on the original Gotcha Day. This was taken on July 9, 2010, the day I came home!

I've taught my parents a lot about being good puppy dog parents, but there's still lots for them to learn. I guess I better get back to work. A dog's job is never done.
