Thanksgiving Hangover

Hi friends!

This has been the BEST weekend EVER! And the very best part is it's still going!

First things first. I have a winner for my Iams Shakeables giveaway:
Comment 1 is Walter (not to be confused The Thing)! Check your e-mail, pal!

Now, on to the most amazingly besets weekend ever.  Wednesday was Thanksgiving Eve. Mommy and Dad had to work and Mommy was supposed to get off early, but ended up having to stay later. So I was in jail for a hundred millionty years. But when Mommy got home, she had the best news: Grandma was on her way! I asked if I had to go to sleep like when Santa Paws comes. She said I could if I wanted, but I might miss treats that way.

Grandma and Grandpa and the Emma thing arrived and we all ate dinner at home. I taught Emma how to beg properly. Then, Mom and Dad let me sleep in the big bed!

I woke up Thursday and helped Mom make a side for Thanksgiving. We all ate breakfast and left for Mawmaw's! I made Grandpaw really happy and rode up front with him. Since Dad was driving, all the boys were up front and we made the girls sit in back. Haha!

Sometimes I get sleepy and need to rest my head.

But then Mom got lonely, so I came to the back to finish riding.

We arrived at Mawmaw's and most of the food was ready. Here's me with out spread:

I tried to teach Emma how to sit and wait for snacks, but she's not always a good listener.

After we ate, we Google Hangouted Uncle Ryan. His girlfriend had to work Friday and since they live in Virginia, they couldn't come. That's OK because it meant I only had to share with Emma instead of Emma, The Thing, and The Blur.

Emma and I rested...

...while the grown-ups yapped.

Emma made Uncle Hank happy by letting him pet on her.

And I showed Emma all the good sniff spots in Mawmaw and Pawpaw's yard.

Of course, begging lessons continued. She's getting better!

Emma is more of a lap-dog than I am. And I'm OK with that because sometimes you get tortured.

 Especially is Dad is involved.

The time came for us to come home. We snacked on leftovers and Emma and I napped. Emma made herself a nest in the corner of the couch. I still can't quite figure out show she did that!

On Friday, everyone slept in. We had breakfast and I showed Emma my neighborhood.

The humans went out for forever that afternoon. No crazy Black Friday shopping, but they went out to eat and didn't bring me any! Grandma gave me a treat though, so I forgave her.

Today, Daddy and I went to McDonalds for breakfast. While we were gone, Mom let Emma sit on her lap. Then she made Emma look like Yoda. I told you lap dogs get tortured!

And I gave Emma one final begging lesson. Much better!

Emma and I got along nicely this time. She still acts like my dopey little sister, but I'm teaching her lots of things. I might even one day to show her how to pee on three legs!

Grandma, Grandpaw, and Emma have gone home and we have settled in to watch The Iron Bowl. I'm not sure what it is, but my Mommy is very excited for her Auburn Tiger cats to beat up on some elephants and will probably say HBO words. Then Daddy's Kentucky Wild(kitty)cats will play the Tennessee people. He's not as excited since both teams are bad. So I will probably give him snuggles.

Thanksgiving is the greatest holiday in the world. But now my house is all decorated for the second best holiday--Christmas! And Christmas will be at my house this year! I will have a Mommy, a Daddy, 2 Grandmas, 2 Grandpaws, a Mawmaw, a Pawpaw, an Aunt Melanie, a Tony, an Uncle Ryan, and a Julie to beg from. Which is good, since Emma, The Thing, AND The Blur will be here.

And that's why this was the best weekend ever!

I'm Baaaack!

Hi friends!

Yipes! I can't believe I haven't updated since before the worst holiday in the world. Mom's work got crazy and she hasn't gotten her usual day off in 40 bazillion hours. That means she was too tired to type for me when she got home. And until I get opposable thumbs or sucker Dad into helping, I'm kinda stuck.

Anyway, I survived the worst holiday ever. My city actually MOVED it because severe weather was predicted on Halloween (or Horrible Day as I like to call it) night (nothing happened). So the little monsters were ringing my doorbell on the wrong day. Mommy had somewhere she had to be, so Dad had to hand out candy while I got stuck in jail. Luckily Mom didn't get me a new, embarrassing costume.

I'm Dogcula!

Then I gave Mommy vampire kisses!

For the last month, I've been practicing for the GREATEST holiday ever invented: Thanksgiving! And it's in less than a week!!!!! OMD I'm so excited! In case you're new, Thanksgiving is a human holiday that is all about food. And unlike Horrible Day, it's food you can eat! Mom's family and Dad's family does a combined holiday, so I get a ton of people to beg from. Both Grandmas are great at sneaking me food. So are both Great-Grandmas (but I hear one can't make it this year. Boo). And Uncle Rick always let me lick his plate. After all the humans have eaten, they all take naps. Again, I'm a total pro at that part.  This year I have to share with Emma, but I'm Grandma's favorite, so I'll get extras.

I've also had a little something else up my collar. Be sure to check back Monday for a movie starring yours truly and a giveaway!

Best Thanksgiving Ever

Hi friends! Wowee, has this been a crazy fun weekend.

Everyone waiting for dinner

I think I've said this before, but Thanksgiving is my absolute FAVORITEST holiday. It's an entire holiday that revolves around eating food and, unlike Halloween, it's all food I'm allowed to have bites of!

I helped in the kitchen

Our fun all started when my people both got to come home a little early from their work places Wednesday. We went on a W-A-L-K and as we turned the final corner, guess what I saw? MY GRANDMA, GRANDPA, and GREAT-GRANDMA!!!!! They had just pulled into the driveway and were unloading all of their Thanksgiving goodies. Grandma had baked me my very own treats. She's the best.

Thursday was the main event. Mom spent a lot of time in the kitchen and my other grandparents and great-grandparents came. Other Grandma brought me treats, too! Everyone had a great time talking and feeding me. Uncle Ryan came and brought The Thing, but he actually wasn't too bad. He ran in circles and barely stopped long enough to get treats. Since I was so calm and sat so nicely, Grandma gave me extra. Everyone ate and just enjoyed each other. The Thing kept running and stole some of my toys (I don't really play with them, so it was OK), but I got him back and stole his bone. I even took it to my crate and buried it in my super secret spot. Smarty-pants Mom found it though and gave it back. She's so sneaky!

My (no longer) super secret hiding spot

The Thing's mommy came by and I let her give me a couple of side scratches. Finally, people started heading home and I was so stuffed, I didn't need dinner.

Mom, me, Dad, Uncle Ryan, and The Thing playing in the yard

Friday morning, I was still stuffed and didn't want breakfast. Dad had to work (just a few hours, not Black Friday craziness) and Mom and the grandparents went shopping. They didn't go to the mall or any big store, but to a couple of local places. They even met a horse-dog at one. Mom said she could have ridden her, but that I'd probably be the boss. Cool. Naps and leftovers finished out the day.

My whole family: Julie (The Thing's Mom/Uncle Ryan's girlfriend), Uncle Ryan, The Thing, Grandpa, Mawmaw, Grandma, Pawpaw, Mom, me, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Dad, and Grandpa!

The grandparents left Saturday, but Grandma left the treats. She promised more when I come to visit them for Christmas, though! We've spent the rest of the weekend decorating for Christmas and napping. I really enjoyed having them home and don't want them to back to work places Monday!

Anyway, exciting things are in store this week. First, I'll be reminding everyone of the Dos and Don'ts for Christmas. Plus, I'll be hosting my very first give-away! I'm so excited. Be sure to come back and check it out!

22 Days of Thankful: Day 22

Whew! I made it! Even if my typist tried to sabotage me and forgot a couple of times. She tastes yummy though, so I'll keep her around.

22. To have a houseful of suckers family to love me

Maybe my favorite part of Thanksgiving (besides an entire holiday revolving around food) is the number of people that come together to sneak me some. Since I came around, Mom and Dad's families have done joint Thanksgiving. Yes, I take the credit for it. Two years ago, both sides came here. Last year, we all went to my great-grandma's and great-grandpaw's house. This year, everyone's back at my house. I've perfected the sad brown eyes look and no humans can resist it! Too bad my aunt Melanie couldn't come this year. She's my biggest sucker food sneaker.
My aunt Melanie. She helped keep me out of trouble last time Thanksgiving was here.

Helping cook two years ago. I'm chief taste tester and dropsies cleaner-upper.

I hope you've enjoyed my 22 Days of Thankful. Just remember, being thankful is year-round, not just in November. That means every day should include a full turkey dinner and scraps snuck to me.

To all my US readers, we hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving. Don't get trampled on Black Friday (Mom's going shopping, but to a local small business and certainly not before daylight). To all my UK and elsewhere readers, we hope you have a wonderful Thursday and remember to take a minute and be thankful...again!

22 Days of Thankful

Hi friends!
My mom had a great idea while we were on my W-A-L-K this morning. That's when she gets all her great ideas, but this time she actually remembered it. Since everyone is posting on her Facebook about the things they're thankful for during November, she thought I could do the same thing with my blog. I have lots to be thankful for, but I think I'll just stick to until Thanksgiving. Since we're a little behind, I'll try to catch up!

1. My mommy and daddy.
I love my mommy. Like a whole lot. I tolerate my dad, but I really like in the mornings when he rubs on my belly and then gets me breakfast. I also like when he plays "Get the bone" with me.

2. My bed
Last Christmas I got a new bed. It's big and super soft and has the perfect sides for me to lay my head on. But mostly, I'm thankful have a bed. I had a foster mom before my parents found me and before THAT, I didn't have a bed. Mom and Dad don't like to think about that. I don't either.

3. My bone
I love this thing! I've chewed through lots of them, but we go get another one at the shelter I came from. I get to say hi to everyone while I'm there and they say I'm still the cutest ever.  My dad and I play a great game called "Get the bone" and I have to wrestle it away from him. I've learned lots of tricks from trying to get it like roll over and play dead!

4. Blankets
Sometimes the blankets on our couch misbehave and I have to rearrange them. Sometimes that takes a really long time and my people start laughing at me because I keep fighting them. But eventually, they give up and succumb to my will. They're super great for laying on and sometimes I snuggle under them (see #2).
under...
or over, I don't care, as long as it's a blanket!

5. Naps
Finally (for now), I'm thankful for naps. They're probably the greatest part of my weekends. And days. And nights.

Thanksgiving

Wow! This has been the best weekend EVER! I knew there was a reason Thanksgiving was my favorite holiday. As I mentioned, my grandma, grand-paw, and great-grandma all came to my house. Then we all went to Daddy's grandparents' house. I had a big weekend, so I've got lots of pictures to share.

Of course, I helped Mawmaw and Pawpaw in the kitchen as much as possible

I even threw in a "sit" just for good measure. It worked, too. Pawpaw gave me lots of little turkey pieces.

There were two other puppy dogs there and I didn't like when they tried to chase me. This was my home base and they knew not to bug me there!

Daddy protecting me from the other dogs

Me and my mom

Me and Grand-paw (on Dad's side)

Grandma (on Dad's side) giving me part of her dessert

This is everyone. On the couch is Aunt Reva, Sadie and Barker, Uncle Ryan, Daddy, me, Mommy, and Great (on mom's side). Standing is Grandpaw and Grandma (on Mom's side), Mawmaw (on Dad's side), Uncle Rick, Grandma and Grandpaw and Pawpaw (on Dad's side). That's a lot of sides...I think I ran out of paws counting all that!

This is Grandma (Mom's side) giving me belly rubs the rest of the weekend. Yes please and thank you. I even let Grandpaw (Mom's side) pet on me. Not much, but he was excited.

The fun didn't stop there. On Saturday, Daddy's football team, the Kentucky Wild(kitty)cats beat Tennessee. I didn't understand for a long time why everyone was yelling and everyone on TV was crying. They should be happy! Well, Dad explained that Kentucky had not won since Mommy was 8 months old. She's like, a thousand millonty years old now, so that's a long time. The people were crying because they were so happy and never thought they'd win. Humans are weird. On my walk that evening, I had to wear my bandana to celebrate!

The bad news was Mommy's team lost, so that made her sad, but I cheered her up by giving her lots of kisses. Mommy is lucky to have me.

Now that the turkey is eaten, it's time for Christmas. I think instead of one week-long series, I'll just post tips as they come up.
